01 The Westport reality

What Westport yards actually need.

Westport is a master-planned Kennesaw community — open sight-lines, formal front yards, consistent street presence. Which means two things for landscape: the HOA cares how your lawn reads from the curb, and the grass that was installed was almost certainly Bermuda.

  • Bermuda is the baseline. Cut at 2 inches through the growing season, liquid aeration in spring once it's fully greened, and pre-emergent goes down mid-February. Miss the pre-emergent window and crabgrass owns your summer.
  • Interior tree-heavy lots that struggle with Bermuda often do better as Fescue — we can convert, but it means a September overseed and a year of transition. Only worth it if the shade is genuinely too deep for Bermuda to hold.
  • HOA-presentable every visit. Crisp string-trimmed edges along beds and walks, hard-edged driveway lines, full property blow-off, no debris on the curb. That's what covenants enforce here.
  • Clay soil underneath everything — a soil test and a lime application in year one usually pays for itself in growth response by month three.

03 Seasonal program

Turf care that fits the Bermuda calendar.

Bermuda has a specific rhythm. The right treatment at the right week matters more than brand or round-count — and Westport's mostly-Bermuda footprint means we follow the schedule UGA Extension publishes for Cobb County. If a lot needs conversion to Fescue for shade or a homeowner already has Zoysia in place, we run the UGA calendar for that grass type instead.

  • Pre-emergent in mid-February — before soil temps hit 55°F and crabgrass germinates
  • Liquid aeration in spring once Bermuda is actively growing — opens the clay without pulling plugs across the lawn
  • Post-emergent + fertilization rounds through the growing season
  • Lime and soil amendments driven by an actual soil test, not a guess
  • Late-fall pre-emergent for winter weeds (poa annua, chickweed)

04 One-time project

Sod, mulch, and bed refreshes.

The one-off work that makes Westport homes look built-in rather than just built. Bermuda sod for repair patches or full-lawn resets, hardwood / pine bark / pine-straw refreshes for the front beds every March, bed-line renovation for the properties whose landscape hasn't been touched since the original install.
