Does Roots Up design landscapes, or only maintain existing ones?

Roots Up designs landscapes. It's one of the four core Roots Up services alongside weekly maintenance, turf care, and sod / installs. Design is plan-first — we build the design as a standalone deliverable, and you decide whether Roots Up or another crew installs it. Consultation-based pricing, set at the initial site visit.

How much does a landscape design consultation cost in West Cobb?

Landscape design pricing is consultation-based and set at the initial site visit — it varies with scope (single bed refresh vs full front-yard replan vs whole-property design). If Roots Up builds the design, the design fee credits fully toward the build. If you take the plan elsewhere, the design fee stays as-is. No hidden charges.

Can I take the design to another crew if I want to shop the build?

Yes — the plan is yours. Once the design is delivered, you own it. Take it to another crew for build quotes, keep it for future reference, or come back to Roots Up to build it. The plan-first structure is deliberate — we'd rather earn the build by being the best value on paper than lock you into a bundled quote.

Does Roots Up handle hardscape design (patios, walls, walkways) too?

Yes — hardscape design is part of the landscape design service when the scope calls for it. That includes paver walkways, retaining walls, small patios, and outdoor bed edging. Larger structural hardscape (pool decks, full patios with drainage, seat walls with lighting) is designed by Roots Up and typically sub-contracted for the build phase.

How long does the landscape design process take from consultation to plan?

Most Roots Up landscape design projects run 2 to 4 weeks from initial site visit to delivered plan — site walk-through, measurements, plant selection driven by your soil and sun exposure, and a plan document you can share with any installer. Larger whole-property redesigns can run longer. Set at the consultation.

Does the design fee credit fully toward the build?

Yes — if Roots Up builds the design, the entire design fee credits toward the build cost. That means the design conversation is genuinely no-risk if you're planning to work with Roots Up. The credit doesn't apply if you take the plan to another crew; the design fee stands on its own in that case. Fully disclosed at consultation.

Can Roots Up work with what's already in my beds, or does everything have to be replaced?

Roots Up designs around existing plants whenever they're healthy and fit the plan — mature shrubs and small ornamental trees usually stay. Anything struggling, misplaced, or that clashes with the design gets flagged for removal or transplant. The plan documents what stays, what moves, and what's new so nothing gets torn out by accident.
